VISIT PIKILLACTA AND SALAPUNKU (OLLANTAYTAMBO)

The community of Piscacucho (also known as KM 82) is located in the district of Ollantaytambo and is home to the famous Inca trail that leads to Machupicchu; in this community, the archaeological site of Pikillacta can be found – a pre-Inka city. One can also visit Salapunku (also known as Puerta de Salon) – an Inkan archaeological site located one kilometer from the community of Piscacucho. This site has walls similar to those of Sacsayhuaman – a place that would have been the control gate in order to access Machupicchu and Vilcabamba.
