INITIATION POINT FOR THE INKA TRAIL – KM 82 – OLLANTAYTAMBO Duration: 4 Days / 3 Nights

The community of Piscacucho – better known as KM 82 – is the gateway to the famous Inka Trail; this place also belongs to Ollantaytambo. To get to this point of initiation, one must take a bus that leaves from the town of Ollantaytambo; we recommend spending the night in Ollantaytambo before starting the 4-day trekking experience.

The Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is part of a system of more than 30,000 kilometers of roads that integrated the Tawantinsuyo network of walking trails – from the south of Colombia, to the center of Chile, and passing through Ecuador, and Cajamarca, Huánuco, Jauja, Huamanga and Cusco in Peru, and La Paz and Cochabamba in Bolivia, unto Salta and Tucumán in Argentina where the ancient Inkas created this extensive network of roads that connected their empire.

This Inka Trail is without a doubt one of the most beautiful in the entirety of the Americas.
