In the community of Piscacucho (km 82), we can find the archaeological zone of Pikillacta "a pre-inca city" where the inhabitants had specific knowledge and technologies that dominated the natural resources of the area and contributed to the Inca empire. There you can also visit Salapunku "Puerta de Salón", an Inca archaeological site located 1 km from the community of Piscacucho. This site has walls similar to those of Sacsayhuaman, constructions of symmetrical shapes, zigzagging place that would have been the access control door to Machupicchu and Vilcabamba and was a ceremonial sacred site to the "Gods". This site is situated in the valley surrounded by sacred mountains. It is worth mentioning that this place is the starting point of the famous Inca Trail to Machupicchu of 4 days/3 nights.
