SITIO ARQUEOLOGICO DE PUMAMARKA - OLLANTAYTAMBO

Pumamarka is a wonderful pre-Inca and Inca archaeological site. It is well preserved and you can find different architectural structures such as platforms, homes, Inca roads, water channels, qolqas and a spectacular view of the Patachancha basin and the Ollantaytambo Valley.
It is located in a strategic point this is why it is believed that one of its functions was to control the access to the Antisuyo (the entrance to the jungle) because it still maintains architectural details that show us the construction techniques of the buildings centered around it with very high walls, which it proves an evident intention of defense of a powerful military wall.
Ollantaytambo is full of enigmatic and mysterious archaeological centers that can tell you thousands of stories.

There are two options to get to the archaeological site of Puma Marka from the Inca village of Ollantaytambo:

First option

Walking along the road to the indigenous community of Patacancha, passing through the area of Muñaypata to reach the entrance of PumaMarka. This spectacular walk to the archaeological site will take between 5 to 6 hours.

Second Option

Take a vehicle for a trip of 25 minutes ascending the Valley of Patacancha until you reach the entrance of PumaMarka, there you will have to make a small walk until you reach the archaeological site and the visit will take you an hour and a half and another 20 minutes to come back to the Inca village of Ollantaytambo. This option is for people who do not want to walk a lot but they want to enjoy the pre-Inca and Inca constructions and their nature.

Unforgettable experiences and places!!
