The Archaeological Park of Ollantaytambo is a monumental architectural site. It was an administrative, religious and military center built to control the Sacred Valley of the Incas and the entrance and the exit to Machupicchu.
In these Inca constructions you can see the architecture characterized by precision, solidity and symmetry.
Ollantaytambo was also a TAMBO, a resting place and food supply for the Quechua officials who traveled these long roads. It is currently a necessary stop before entering the citadel of Machupicchu, one of the wonders of the world.
Nowadays Ollantaytambo is known as the "Living Inca City" and "Pueblo con Encanto" reflecting the Inca vestiges. This place has preserved its ancient city planning. Walking through its narrow and extravagant streets make you travel in time and you will feel this magical feeling of returning to the past.
